FLYING NECESSITIES

I fly. Frequently.

For the past 3-4 years, I've been on a plane at least once a month on average.. and due to my upcoming trip to Asia, I thought this post would be fitting!

Flying necessities. What keeps me sane and feeling fresh after countless hours spent on flights and in airports? Read below to find out!

Here are the things I can no longer fly without:

1. READING MATERIAL - Whether it's on your phone, book, or laptop - take something with you. It's one of the easiest ways to pass time and benefits you as well. Do yourself a favor and read something worthwhile.. like my blog for example. (Jk, not really.) My recent favorite would be, "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell.

2. SOCKS - Comfy, fuzzy, cute socks. Sounds stupid, but keep socks in your purse. Sometimes I fly in flip flops, and I think it's the grossest thing in the world to walk through airport security in BARE FEET. I shudder just thinking about it. Plus it's so comfy to be able to chill and wear socks on the plane.

3. PHONE CHARGER & HEADPHONES - 'Nuff said. Oh, and remember to download some interesting audio books or update playlists on your Spotify.

4. PRIORITY PASS - If you fly a lot, you'll realize that you'll fall victim to delays. A fuck ton of them. I think having a Priority Pass is one of the most useful memberships to have. Rather than wait around for your shitty delayed flight, head on over to the nearest VIP lounge and get wasted. Duh. (Only certain lounges serve alcohol.. and most only serve after 11AM. No alcohol for breakfast. I tried.) In all seriousness, the lounges are clean, quiet, exclusive and a great place to have refreshments, get work done, munch out on the buffet and enjoy the other amenities they have to offer.

Side note: Before you sign up, check to see if your credit card offers lounge benefits.. or opt to sign up for one! A couple of mine did. (BMO Mastercard World Elite, AMEX Reserve & Platinum)

5. LOTION & HYDRATING FACE SPRAY - Flying tends to cause your skin to dry out. I always keep a good lotion on hand, as well as a travel-sized moisturizing face mist. What I recommend?
L'Occitane lotion in Jasmine & Bergamot - Absorbs quick, non-greasy, smells light & amazing.
Urban Decay Quick Fix - Fine mist, hydrating, coconut scent.

6. OIL BLOTTING SHEETS & MAKEUP WIPES- If your T-zone gets oily or you're traveling somewhere hot, oil blotting sheets are a great way to keep your makeup/face feeling fresh and on point. Oh, and make-up removing wipes. I use Cetaphil and it does a great job of removing impurities when you're on the run.
Shiseido Oil Blotting Sheets - Invest in them, they work well.

7. MEDS - I always keep a ton of medication on hand for any emergency situations. Pain meds, sleeping meds, antibiotics. I highly recommend Advil Cold & Sinus. It works wonders if you ever get sick & suffer from congestion - it's a life saver.. probably because it contains a small dose of pseudoephedrine. Also, Emergen-C to boost your immune system!

8. NECK PILLOW & BLANKET - Bringing a big comfy sweater works too. I will never travel more than 4 hours without a neck pillow. Anything less, I leave it at home.

9. TOOTHBRUSH & MINTS - I always buy a toothbrush from an airport stand because it's easy to shove into my purse and they sell travel-friendly options that include everything! Toothpaste. toothbrush, floss. Hygiene is so important! I also like to buy mints that have a nice cooling sensation to feel extra refreshed.

10. SUNGLASSES & HAIR TIES - Sunglasses are a great way to hide tired eyes after long flights. It's my secret to looking fab even without any make up on. As for hair ties.. It's just a girl necessity. Common situation when traveling with a group of girls? Scavenging for hair ties. Bring extras. I have extremely long hair that just gets in the way, so hair ties for me are a MUST.

11. PEN - I ALWAYS keep a pen in my wallet. You won't believe how handy it is.

INTRO

I've been meaning to start a blog for as long as I can remember. After about 10 years of procrastination, here I am! (Sadly, that's not an exaggeration.) I've contemplated long and hard. Beauty & fashion? Food? Lifestyle? Travel? I can't pick a topic because there's too many things on my mind, and who would want to read a food blog with random pieces of relationship advice or makeup tips? So, I decided to create my OWN route and start a blog on.. being LOST and what I've found. Whether it's in regards to traveling, relationships, beauty, diet, career paths - I have been lost . Fortunately, when I'm lost, I tend to find the most insightful stories, tips, advice.. & of course, FOOD! I'll be sharing all my experiences in hopes that it helps people out during times they might need it! ENJOY! Side note: I actually promised myself I'd publish my first blog post during the age of 25, and with only a month to spare.. I...
